Problem: You’ve read all the writing books and taken all the writing classes, but you’re not moving the needle on achieving your book-writing goals.

Solution: Private book coaching provides focused attention on YOUR book and provides the most efficient way to finish writing your book.

How does private book coaching work?

First, we’ll have a free consultation call to determine if we are a good fit to work together. I focus on writers who are writing commercial fiction set in the real world (contemporary fiction, women’s fiction, romance, historical fiction, historical romance, and select mystery, thriller, and suspense projects) across age categories (adult, young adult, and middle grade). You can learn more about my reading preferences on my FAQ page to determine if your book might be a good fit. If I do not think I am a good match for your project, I will be happy to refer you to one of my talented colleagues.

If both of us think a book-coaching relationship would be beneficial, we’ll begin with my signature “In It to Win It” introductory service. See details below.

***Are you writing nonfiction? Good news! I will open to nonfiction clients in Fall 2024. Please contact me if you’d like to be on a waitlist to be notified when those services are available.

"From the start, Sara was professional and approachable. The feedback I received was insightful, thought provoking and specific. Her coaching style feels like a conversation with someone as invested in your story as you are. Sara’s questions help you dig deeper in a way that is actionable. Huge for me when digging deeper can often mean going down the rabbit hole then stress eating my way out. With Sara’s help, I can see the possibilities without getting lost or overwhelmed. I’ve learned so much already. Very exciting!”

Book Coaching Services

In It to Win It

Investment: $300

Time Frame: 1-2 weeks

This service is for all first-time clients.

Writers love stories, but many fail to consider how they will write stories while living in the reality of their day-to-day. This service ensures that you set yourself up for success by providing you with a strategy based on your lifestyle and book project.

In your first book-coaching experience, we will assess your current writing status, discuss your writing goals, strengthen your book idea, and develop a personalized plan of action. We’ll have a 50-minute private video call to answer your questions. You’ll come away with a project timeline, editorial feedback on your idea and sample pages, and clear direction on what to do next. Think of this service as providing you with your winning game plan!

Payment schedule: Full payment is due upon enrollment.

Flextime Coaching

Investment: $300 (20 pages) or $500 (40 pages) per round

Time Frame: Variable

This service is for you if you can commit to making steady progress on your book at your preferred pace.

Each round includes inline comments on your work ($300 for 20 pages, $500 for 40 pages), a private video call, and direction for your next steps.

At the end of each deadline, I will prescribe the next step needed to advance your project. Examples of next steps: book planning, editing pages, creating a revision plan, evaluating a pitch package, and developing a writing strategy.

This service may be repeated as desired. An 80,000-word novel would typically take 16-20 rounds of 20-page submissions or 8-10 rounds of 40-page submissions.

Payment schedule: Full payment is collected at the beginning of each round.

6 Months to Done

Investment: $5000 for Middle Grade, $6500 for YA/Adult

Time Frame: 6 Months

This service is for you if you can prioritize your writing for six months in order to knock out your first draft, revision, or book proposal with pitch package (coming Fall 2024). Imagine how you’ll feel knowing it’s DONE.

During our first month together, we will complete intensive work on your book’s foundational elements. In months 2-6, you will submit pages for feedback.

This book coaching package includes inline feedback, email support, bi-monthly video calls, and top priority on my book coaching calendar.

Note: I will provide you with the support you need to finish in six months, but YOU are responsible for staying on task. As such, this service is best for writers who are serious about doing the work needed to make significant progress.

Payment schedule: $1500 first month, $700/$1000 per month in months 2-6

Custom Bootcamp

Investment: $1000+

Time Frame: 1-3 days

This service is for you if you want to work intensively on your book in a short time frame.

You might use a Custom Bootcamp to outline your book, develop a new story idea, create your pitch package, work through a revision plan…. There are many possibilities!

This option is also available for groups.

There are limited openings for this service each month due to the demanding time commitment.

Payment schedule: A $500 payment is required to reserve time on my calendar. The remaining balance is due one week before the Bootcamp begins.

A word about pricing: Private book coaching prices reflect the amount of time, feedback, and personal attention each writer receives. I aim to offer solutions for every writer’s budget. If private coaching is not for you right now, my Novel Resolution group program is a very affordable option that offers high-quality instruction, group coaching, accountability, and support.

"Sara is kind and encouraging; her goal is clearly to help me reach my goals, not hers, for my book. She is specific and insightful, with helpful questions and perspectives for moving my revision process forward. Perhaps most of all, she is organized and professional. If you are looking for direction for your writing and encouragement for yourself, absolutely reach out to Sara!"
