June 2022 Writing Check-In

It's July, and just like that, we're halfway through 2022. If you're a goal-oriented person like myself, you might be looking back at your New Year's resolutions and evaluating how you've done. Some of it might make you proud - look at what I've done so far! - and some of it might make you despair - I just need more time (insert wailing emoji here, LOL).

I've done pretty well with some of my goals. I've read 22+ minutes everyday (a lot more on audiobook for me this year). I'm on track to read the Bible through a year. I set out to learn Beethoven's Waldstein sonata thinking I would be happy to make it through the first movement by the end of the year, and I had learned it by May. Now I'm going to see if I can learn the whole thing, but seriously, the third movement is incredibly difficult and may be beyond my skill set. I'm still going to give it a go because playing Beethoven every day in 2022 has been a sanity saver.

Earlier this year, I shared how I had taken a writing break and how working with a coach prepared me to move forward again. This month I have been working on a blueprint with one of my fellow book coaches. It's hard work, and a coach won't let you sneak by with hand waving a fuzzy thoughts. It's been really good though. I am nearly done (just working on an opening and closing scene), and I am excited to get her feedback. I want to have the first draft written by the end of the year. It's a bold goal. I'm almost afraid to even put it out there, but now I have, so it's up to me to make it happen!

I've also added the goal of increasing my network. I changed my Instagram and Twitter handles to @writewithsara as I felt that was more authentic to the kind of social media presence I want to have. I'd love to connect with you if you are on those platforms.

I hope the first half of 2022 has gone well for you, and I hope you've made progress on your writing goals. If you have stagnated, now would be a great time to sign up for coaching. I know the economy is suffering right now, and high-ticket book coaching may not be within your budget. Believe me, I understand. To help address this situation, I will be working this month to offer services at various price points.

And lastly, today kicks off the #AmWriting-Author Accelerator 2022 Summer Blueprint Butt in Chair Challenge. I'll be a guest in week 7 of the challenge, which airs on August 12.

Have a great July!
